About the collection

On Eastern Ponto Coast, Batumi Gora settlement is, so far, the only monument where the existence of the imported workpieces, connected with the Antique – Greek world is proved, which are dated by the end of VII c. B.C., and beginning of VI c. B.C. These are the so called Ionic ceramics with simple stripes, and the amphors of Kos, Lesbos, Samos, Thassos, Mende and othe unidentified centre. By the Elinistic Era locals had also begun to make Colchi amphors.
