About the collection

Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikov – A Painter. Honored Artist of Georgia.He studied at  Tbilisi Art School in 1906-10 and at Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1910-12. Alexsandre Bazhbeuk-Melikov created interesting composition, successfully worked in the genre of nude and portrait. His works are characterized by exquisite painting, rich color.

The artist’s portraits  are full of inner warmth and lyricism, one of the examples of which is the painting “Portrait of  Zhana Toidze”, made in the late period of his creative work.
