About the collection

Alexander Tsimakuridze - One of the founders of Georgian landscape painting. He studied at Moscow Painting, Sculpture and Architecture School in 1906 -15, was a student of famous Russian artists - Viktor Vasnetsov and Nikolai Kasatkin.  

His favorite theme was the picturesque landscapes of Kartli - Kvishkheti and Borjomi gorge. The painting “kvishkheti” is one of the works, created on this theme. Artist mostly  painted the bright, idyllic atmosphere of sunny afternoon. Immediacy of perception, bright colors, free manner of painting are characteristics of his works.
