Dimitri Eristavi – A Graphic artist, illustrator, cinema artist. One of the important representatives of Georgian painting of the second half of the 20th century. Studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts (speciality-graphics) at Tbilisi Academy of Arts, under the guidance of outstanding artists Ioseb Charlemani, Lado Grigolia, Sergo Kobuladze (1950-56). People's Artist of Georgia (1985), laureate of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize (2006). He worked in the genre of portrait and nude, created various genre-pieces. In the represented genre scene, three characters play music - women play the cello and violin, the boy -hepherd’s pipes. They seem to fill the space with music. One of the main expressive ways of the work is the plastic line, which inscribes a voluminous form, it adds dynamics and rhythm to the composition. Refined colourfulness, clear drawing, contrasting alternation of light-and-shade give the picture an aesthetic look, poetic inspiration and lyrical mood, typical for the author.
