About the collection

Dmitri Pakhomov (1871-1924) - painter-illustrator, art theorist, public figure. He studied at the Art and Industrial Academy named after Baron Alexander Stiglitz in St. Petersburg. He traveled to the Caucasus. In 1917 he organized his first personal exhibition in Batumi. In 1922-23 he founded Batumi Art School. He was the chairman of the society of artists founded by him. The artist’s favourite theme was the landscape, in which he realistically painted the surrounding environment, the characteristic signs of different places, the character of the landscape. The presented painting is distinguished by these features. The picture shows an autumn landscape, where colorful corner of one of the suburbs of Batumi  is depicted. The composition is characterized by refined colors,effective lighting, cheerful mood.
