About the collection

 Esma Oniani - A Painter, graphic artist, poet, essayist. One of the  important representatives of Georgian art of the second half of the XX century. She studied at the Faculty of Painting at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts at the studio of the  prominent artist Ucha Japaridze in 1957-63. Portrait, Nude, Tbilisi landscape, large thematic compositions define Esma Oniani's genre diapason.

The painting “Mother in the Crepe De Chine Dress” is distinguished by rich  color  and spiritual depth. It belongs to the late period of the artist’s creative work. Memories of childhood,which constantly appear in Esma Oniani's poetic, nostalgic paintings take a special place in her works. The all-encompassing bright red color illuminates this family scene, where the author herself, her sister and mother are depicted.
