Gigo Gabashvili - XIX-XX centuries. The founder of Georgian realistic painting. People’s Artist of Georgia. One of the founders of Tbilisi State Academy of Art. Studied at the Art Academies of Saint Petersburg and Munich.

Portraits, depicting representatives of different regions and social levels, take a big place in  Gigo Gabashvili’s various works. The painting “Old Men” stands out among the works created on this theme. It is characterized by precise fixation of picturesque faces and direct mood.
