About the collection

Givi Toidze – A painter, graphic artist. One of the  important representatives of Georgian painting of the second half of the XX century. Laureate of Shota Rustaveli State Prize, People's Artist of Georgia. Studied at the Faculty of Easel and Monumental Painting at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts at the studio of the prominent artist Korneli Sanadze in 1954-1960. Givi Toidze fruitfully works in the genre of still life and landscape, creates thematic compositions. The theme of Old Tbilisi, expressed with special warmth and lyricism takes a special place in his works. The presented painting “Old Tbilisi, mosque”, is one of the works, created on this theme.
