Mose Toidze - One of the founders of new Georgian painting. People's Artist. He studied at Ilia Repin studio at Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts and then at famous Russian masters Lev Dmitriev-Kavkazsky and Philip Maliavin studio in 1896 – 1901. Mose Toidze fruitfully worked in almost all fields of fine arts. He painted landscapes, still lifes, portraits.
The artist’s early period work “Street at Night”, with the moonlight buildings and the sharp shade create effective expressiveness and dramatic mood of the image.
