About the collection

Hermes -  The herald of the gods, protector of trade and travellers. Based on artistic-stylistic features, this portrait is a sample of the epoch of classicism. which prevailed in Europe at the end of the 18th century and at the beginning of the 19th century. Ancient art was a model for classicism. Mythological stories and personages were often used in painting and sculpture at that time and also copies of ancient Greek masters were often created. The bust of Hermes is a copy of the famous sample of Praxiteles, his personages are ideally beautiful deities, in whith lyricism and poetic mood.
