Stefan Bakalowicz (1857-1947) – He was born in Warsaw. 1876-81 He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. His creative work was greatly influenced by the school of Jan Matejko. He had been living in Rome since 1883. In 1886, he was awarded the title of academic of historical painting. He worked in the genre history, mainly created portraits and paintings from the life of ancient Rome.
