A wedding Collection

About the collection

  • The wedding collection belongs to Salie Shervashidze, the wife of Devrish-Beg Bezhanidze (Keda-Zendidi). The collection includes a beautiful “Bokhcha’’   - (The personal property of a woman handicrafts made by herself and other items, which was carried during marriage,) decorated with women's perfumes, jewel box, footwear items and  other elements.

It is probable that Devrish Bezhanidze brought this bokhcha from Turkey to his wife, as he often traveled.

3. Perfume wooden box.

4.  “Bokhcha” rectangular cloth bag, made of pieces of different colored fabric.

5.  woman’s silk veil’s holder  – “Lechaki’’ – “Tori”. Velvet. Dark purple.

6. “Kheltemena’’ (beautiful embroidery which covered women’s(bride’s) hand at the greeting time to olders).

7. Gloves (Eldevens). Leather.

8. Handkerchief.

9. Footwear elements:.bachuchebi.

10. Jewel box – storage of valuables.

11 cigarette holder; and tobacco pipe - Tobacco smoking devices.

12. Mzitvi-  list of dowry which includes family gifts.
