About the collection
In February-March 1921, Soviet Russia occupied and annexed Georgia. The government of the Democratic Republic of Georgia first moved to Kutaisi and then to Batumi. On March 18, the last session of the Constituent Assembly was held in Batumi,who supported the emigration of the Georgian Social Democratic Party (Mensheviks) under the leadership of Noe Jordania. On the same day, the Georgian government, several members of the Constituent Assembly, a military officer and their families boarded the ship "Ernest Renan" and first to Istanbul, and from there to France, where they found political asylum.
