About the collection
- The elements of the footwear in Adjara were “Kalamani”, “Tsugha”, “Chilatani”. Kalaman was a common footwear for both men and women in Adjara. They were identical and were sewn in every family from the skins of cattle . XIX-XX centuries Greek and Armenian craftsmen sewed “Tsugha’’ in Adjara together with local craftsmen. For bottom were used the skins of bulls, cows, buffaloes, and horses and for belt sheep, goats, and calves skins. This item of footwear was common in valley in Adjara.
