About the collection

  • After the Russian-Ottoman war of 1877-1878, Adjara was returned to motherland of georgia. Georgian public figures had systematic relations with the population of Adjara. They published letters about Adjara in the Georgian press.

The records of Davit Tsereteli, the brother of the famous Georgian poet Akaki Tsereteli, about Adjara are noteworthy.

Georgian Historical and Ethnographic Society  had its representative  in Batumi.

Letters of Georgian public figure Abdul Mikeladze were regularly published in Georgian magazines and newspapers. A. Mikeladze was a correspondent of the newspaper "Iveria" from Adjara.
