- Loman Kartsivadze was a famous Georgian educated scientist, a multifaceted public and religious figure in Adjara in the 2nd half of the 19th century, a relentless fighter for the bright future of the homeland. He informed the local government and the population in detail about the difficulties faced by the population who had taken refuge in the Ottoman Empire. He exhorted population of Adjara to stay in their native land, to preserve their father’s homes.
