About the collection

Ilia Chavchavadze - public figure, publicist, journalist, politician, writer, who played an important role in the formation of civil society in 19th century Georgia. It was founded under the leadership of Ilia Chavchavadze and a completely new word was said by the newspapers published by him in Georgian journalism - "Sakartvelos Moambe", "Iveria".He made a significant contribution to the creation of the first financial institution in Georgia –the nobility and  property bank , which he headed for thirty years. He also played an important role in the formation of a society that spreads literacy among Georgians.
