About the program

On 27 September 2024, a public lecture was held at the Museum of Religion in connection with the Day of the Georgian Alphabet "Adventures of the Georgian Alphabet" took place. The lecture was led by Professor Shorena Makhachadze from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and was attended by teachers and students.  The event discussed the Georgian language as the main factor of the identity of the Georgian nation for centuries, the role and purpose of native language in the struggle for the identity of the Georgian nation in the conditions of globalisation, multicultural and multilingual environment.  As part of the event, an exhibition was organised at the Khariton Akhvlediani Museum - The first reading book (1876) (first and second part, and ''Deda Ena''-Alphabet (1912 ) was displayd from the depositories of the museum. At the end of the event, Shorena Makhachadze gifted the book to the Museum of Religion ''In the beginning was the Word''- Letters about Georgian Literature of the Twentieth century.
