Today, the public lecture on "9 April 1989 in Georgia" took place at the Ajara Khariton Akhvlediani Museum.
9 April links two critical events in Georgia's history - the tragedy of 1989 and the restoration of independence in 1991. The death of 21 Georgians in Tbilisi at the hands of the Russian army led to general disobedience, which ultimately ended with the restoration of Georgia's independence.
9 April became a new stage from which the national liberation movement took on a continuous, planned, and irreversible character.
The lecture was given by the director of the Ajara Khariton Akhvlediani Museum, Professor Otar Gogolishvili.
