Ekaterine Baghdavadze – a painter. One of the outstanding representatives of Georgian painting of the XXth century. She was a painter of the 20th century. She was a painter of the 20th century. She studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1934-40 under the guidance of the eminent artists Ucha Japaridze and Mose Toidze.
Intense, bright colours, rich painterly brushstrokes and a characteristic decorativeness are typical of Ekaterine Baghdavadze's works. The author expresses various feelings and moods in the generalised, idealised faces of women immersed in their world.
