Elene Akhvlediani – A painter, graphic artist, theatre decorator, and cinema artist, was born on 18 April. One of the most important representatives of the new Georgian painting. People's Artist of Georgia (1960), laureate of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize (1971). Studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (1922) and was a student of the well-known artist Gigo Gabashvili. She also studied at the Académie Colarossi in Paris (1922-27). Here, she took part in exhibitions at the Salon "Independents."
Elene Akhvlediani's artistic philosophy is reflected in her landscape painting. She is a prominent representative of the so-called "landscape of mood." The museum's permanent collection is enriched by paintings and prints created by the master at various times.
