Lado Gudiashvili - A painter, graphic artist, illustrator, theatre decorator, cinema artist, monumentalist. He holds the honorable title of 'People's Artist of Georgia.' Laureate of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize.
He studied painting and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in Tbilisi 1910-14. He took part in Ekvtime Takhaishvili's Tao-Klarjeti expedition in 1917, where he made copies of ancient Georgian frescoes. From 1919-26, he lived and worked in Paris and studied at Ronson's "Free Academy".
His works contain scenes from the bohemian life of old Tbilisi on the one hand, and legends and historical stories inspired by Georgia's past on the other. He created idealised portraits of modern people.
The "Kinto series" plays a leading role in the artist's early works, such as the painting "Kinto's Feast." These festive people, with their unique manners and clothing, are typical representatives of the exotic world.
