The new life of artefact
A lekythos from the Hellenistic period was discovered in a cemetery in Pichvnari in 2023. It dates from the 4th to 3rd century BC. It was damaged but partially restored.
Similar products have only been found in a few graves so far. A newly found specimen is also one of them. A characteristic feature is the bowl-like shape of the mouth. Various pieces are covered with deep red lacquer. They were later replaced by unguentariums made of clay.
