The LEPL Ajara Museum of Ajara has conducted 61 educational programmes, which are arranged according to the age groups of the students.
Today, we present the educational program-"Portrait," which is aimed at 5th to 10th grade students.
The programme has several objectives: To familiarise students with the genre of portraiture and the different types of portraits (official portrait, group portrait, psychological portrait, family portrait, etc.); to develop participants' powers of observation; to enable them to psychologically characterise a person through paintings, graphic or sculptural portrait. A portrait is usually drawn while the model poses, which directly conveys the individual characteristics, psychological type, mental qualities, and social status of the person (portrayed). Furthermore, a skilfully executed portrait reveals the artist's subjective attitude towards the figure.
Students will view the portraits presented in the main exhibition and get acquainted with the works of famous Georgian artists (G. Gabashvili, L. Gudiashvili, E. Oniani, E. Bagdavadze, A. Dzneladze, etc.). They will also get to know reproductions of masterpieces from all over the world. After the theoretical part of the programme, students will draw portraits. The program also includes an interactive game - "Live Portrait in a Frame" (fun photo shoot).
